Prepping for finals...

Need I say more?

I'm stepping aside for a bit to do that since I think I finally figured out that I can't do it all.  Imagine that?

I've missed some of the fun hops and some of my regular posts, but I'll be back in full swing soon.  Starting week 13, only one more left after this!!

Miss chatting with you all...

Pondering With a Purpose - Blog World vs. Real World

This week's topic for Pondering With a Purpose is your blog world versus your real world.  Are they separate lives, the same?

Think on Thursday

This kind of ties into last week's topic, listening, at least for me.  In my blog world, I can talk about almost anything.  I can get it all off my chest with no interruptions.  So it's nice.  In the real world I don't always have that luxury.  To be honest, how many people in real life want to hear me talk for 20 minutes about a piece from my shot glass collection each week? I don't blame them! But in blog world if a blogger's post is irrelevant to you, you can skim, discontinue reading it, or not open it at all.  But generally, people in the blog world want to read about these somewhat irrelevant moments in your life.  It's what it's all about.

In conclusion, I would definitely say that my blog world and my real world are definitely two separate things.  And I feel it is good that they are separate because one can be an outlet from the other.  When I have a frustrating conversation or experience in real life, I can log on to Blogger and complain about it, or I can talk about something completely different.  And vice versa, but I can honestly say I haven't had a frustrating moment in blog world, except for the occasional difficulty.  My blog is an extension of my voice, it's a place for me to speak in detail about things that I don't always have the opportunity to speak about in real life.  I like it here.

Meet Me On Monday

1. Right now I could really eat ___.

Mesquite BBQ Potato Chips... and I am.  :)

2. Full length pants of capris?

Sorry for this, but it depends if I've shaved my legs.

3. The best smelling men's cologne is ___.

Whatever Brad wears, I'm not sure if it is a cologne or if it is his deodorant, but he smells good!

4. What is your favorite kind of cheesecake?

I am a fan of plain cheesecake, so if I have to pick a flavor I usually opt for mellow flavors like raspberry or white chocolate.  Chocolate or caramel is just too much, I think it ruins the essence of the "cheese"cake.

5. What TV show do you currently never miss?

Criminal Minds!

Friday Fill-in Fun

Time for this week's Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun! Join Hilary at Feeling Beachie for this fun hop.

Each week she posts four fill-in the blank statements on her blog.  Take them to yours, fill them in, and link back.  If you have suggestions for statements, send them to her at and you could be co-host!

This week's statements:

1. When I am ___ I always ___.
2. ___ is my ___ of ___.
3. The ___ the ___.
4. If only I ___ then ___ and everyone would be ___.

My answers:

1. When I am bored I always head for the fridge.  Such a bad habit.

2. Spring is my favorite time of the year.  I wish these sudden cold spots would go away!

3. The cat is sleeping on the desk.  She has her head on the side of my keyboard.

4. If only I could clone myself then there would be many of me and everyone would be glad for the assistance.  Some days it seems like EVERYONE needs my help, but there is only one of me and as much as I want to, I just can't do it all.

Pondering With a Purpose - Listening

I haven't participated in Brenda's Pondering With a Purpose hop before, but I've always wanted to.  Since I'm supposed to be doing school work, what better thing to do then find something else to do?  :)

Think on Thursday

This week's prompt is: are you a listener? or are you a talker?

I'm a bit of both.  Mostly, I'm a listener.  Why? Because many times I feel like no one cares what I have to say, or that I just don't have anything interesting enough to say, so I don't.  I often just listen to other people go on and on about whatever is on their mind.  And it really doesn't bother me.  I'm an observer.  It's why I like psychology so much, you get to try to figure people out.  No, I don't "psychologize" everyone I come into contact with, but I do believe people are very interesting and I think we learn so much from the people around us.  Now anyone who has read my blog would probably say, "yeah right, that chick is a talker!" and given the opportunity, I sure can talk! But I don't do it a lot and I think that's why I have so much to say when I do.  And a blog is a nice place to talk without being interrupted.  There is nothing worse than trying to communicate something to someone and having them interrupt you to tell you why their story/situation is so much more interesting than yours.

PS This is my 500th post! I guess I have something to say after all...

Dinner + Movie = Date Night

Brad and I are trying to make it a point to have a date night every once in a while.

As you can tell by my constant (or not constant) potpourri posts, I have no time anymore.  It's gone.  I don't know where it went exactly because I'm really not doing anything different, it's just not here.

Since I don't have time to blog, clearly I don't have much time for my husband either.  Which stinks.  Fortunately I married a very understanding man who knows that all this school and work CRAP I'm absorbed in is to keep us on the path of a happy and better life.  Not that our life is bad, but you know what I mean... it's all about improvement!

Anyway, back to date night! So we have decided to try and get out and see one movie in the theater each month.  That's easy to say right now because there are a few movies coming out that we want to see.  Monday night, we went out for sushi and then went over to the theater and watched American Reunion.  It was hilarious, we really enjoyed it.

When the first American Pie movie came out, it featured the Class of 1999.  Well, that was mine and Brad's class year, so we could relate.  We kind of "grew older" with American Pie 2 and American Wedding, too.  So American Reunion was right on track (but a little late for their 10 year, which they do acknowledge in the movie, they're not pretending it is 10 years later).  So it was funny, we liked it, we'll probably buy it.

Date night = success!

What's up next? Well we're torn! There is The Lucky One coming out at the end of this month, and The Avengers coming out in early May.  Do we break our 1 movie a month guideline? I would say watch one in May and the other in June, but the way movies are in and out of the theaters these days who knows what will happen?! Part of our rationale for one a month is because movie tickets suddenly got flippin' expensive! (Well maybe not suddenly, it has been a long time since I've been to the theater.) So we're trying to be budget conscious as well.

Oh and "Why The Avengers?" one might ask... Chris Evans.  Need I say more? He is my hunk-a-hunk-a-burning-love! And Brad knows it so it's all good.  :-)

So, what do you think? The random question I'm sending out into the universe tonight is: Should we stick to the one per month plan? Or... Go see a second movie, the budgets not going to bust, stop being a control freak!

Tuesday Coffee Chat - Easter

I feel like it has been forever since I've participated in this Coffee Chat and I miss it! Thankfully I am feeling organized enough with my school work that I am taking tonight to catch up on my blogging and blog reading.  It is overwhelming to see all the posts belonging to the dear bloggers I follow that I have missed.

But anyway... Tuesday Coffee Chat! You know I was ready to schedule this post for tomorrow before I realized that today is Tuesday! Yikes.  I was off yesterday so all day today I've been feeling the Mondays... I kind of love it when that happens because then my week is shorter.  Sweet!

Now I am really going to start the coffee chat.  This week we're talking about Easter, or as the theme of the posts go, I think it's about Easter! :-)

This weekend was actually pretty uneventful for us.  I work for the Catholic Church, so I was off work from Thursday at noon until today.  We get spoiled rotten for the big Catholic holidays, and I'm Catholic so I feel I can gloat freely about that.

Like I said, pretty uneventful.  We laid low and did some stuff around the house, nothing super festive.  On Easter we did the usual Easter day stuff with my parents.

No egg dying, no egg hunting, no baskets, no nothing! Last year, Brad and I actually hid eggs for each other, it was pretty fun.  This year, my head just wasn't in the game.  I always get mad because when I go into the attic (doesn't happen often because it's a huge ordeal) I see the egg dye kits I bought on clearance too many years ago and get mad I didn't use them.  Next time I'm in the attic (probably Christmas) I'll do the same thing.

Update: In my rush to get this done I didn't even acknowledge Leslie @ Time Our For Mom for hosting it! Usually I'm pretty good at linking and posting the buttons, at the very least, but apparently my little blogging sabbatical has made me forget my manners!

Shot Tales: Georgia

This week's installment of Shot Tales features a glass I picked up at a gas station off I-95 somewhere in Georgia.

When we go on our annual trip to Florida, we drive.  We usually end up stopping in Georgia on the way to stretch our legs and grab a snack.  We tend to land in Brunswick or Pooler, those are the towns I remember anyway.  I don't know where I got this one.

As simple and storyless as this shot glass seems to be, this is one of my favorites.  I absolutely love the happy cows (there are three total) and the grassy green and the overall fun of it.

While there isn't a memorable story related to this particular glass, it does remind me of the fun road trips to Florida we take.  Brad and I always have the most fun.  We sing along to the radio, make each other laugh, it's always a good time.  Heck, we're on our way to vacation!! What's not to love about it?

We usually end up driving down to Kissimmee alone since we leave from a different town than the rest of the family.  It ends up being some real nice wind-down, together time.  And we're both in great moods!

Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun!!

Look at me being on time for once! But I have to be because I'm co-host!! :)

This is the 57th week of Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun with Hilary over at Feeling Beachie.  Click the image below to visit her blog.

Here's the deal: each week Hilary posts four fill-in the blank statements on her blog.  Take the statements, post them on your blog and fill them in, then link up! If you want to join in the fun, e-mail your ideas for fill-in statements to Hilary at, she'll make you a co-host!  This week I'm the co-host, the last two statements are mine.

Spread the word about by linking up via the linky, sharing the linky on your page, and/or by posting on Facebook or Twitter!

Here it goes...

This week's statements:

1. I never wear ___ and I don't know why.

2. In the winter I always ___.

3. When I ___, I miss ___.

4. I love the way ___ feels.

My answers:

1. I never wear white and I don't know why.  Ok, that's a lie.  I don't wear white because I'm a slob and it wouldn't be white when I'm done!

2. In the winter I always wear socks.  You will hardly ever catch me in socks during the summer.  I'm a bare-footing, flip-flopping kind of girl. :)

3. When I smell saltwater, I miss Long Island.  I miss my beach!! The beaches here are gorgeous but it just isn't the same.

4. I love the way being loved feels.  :)

Losing is winning!

I decided to give Weight Watchers another shot this month.

Four years ago I joined prior to my wedding to lose some stubborn weight, and I lost 12 lbs in a few months, fit beautifully into my dress and all that.  Then, naturally, I gained it (and more!) back.

So I know Weight Watchers is a proven method and I know if I stick to it, it will work again.

I've been at it for 3 weeks and I'm down 5 lbs! I'm pretty excited about that.  The average is 2 lbs a week after the first 2 weeks.  I think the first two weeks give you time to adjust to eating right.

Tracking what I eat is hard.  I don't mind the actual entry into the tracker, it's just finding the time to do it.  I have the mobile apps, and that helps, but I don't have much time regardless.

The good news is, I know when something is going to give me a ridiculous point value so I can steer clear of it.  I don't know everything, but I do know some.

And the other good news is, a lot of the foods I like have no point value, like fruits and veggies and Jello.  So I've been stocking up on those good-for-you-won't-deplete-my-points-in-one-bite snacks.  Oh, and NO fast food! Or soda.  I even started drinking my coffee black with no sugar because that has zero points.

I don't feel any different physically, there hasn't been any five pound less revelation, but I feel good mentally and that's what matters!

Shot Tales; Epcot

Well, this post is late but I'm dating it back to Sunday anyway.  :)

This week's featured glass is one I picked up from Epcot in Florida.  This story kind of annoys me, but at least I got a shot glass out of it.

I really like this glass.  It's a blue color glass but barely transparent because of the dark blue.  I think it's fun.

Anyway, a few years ago we went to Florida on our annual family trip with the in-laws.  One of Brad's friend's, TS, worked at Disney for a little while.  He got us park hopper passes that allow us to go from one park to another within a day.  Sweet deal since admission to one park is over $50! So getting into 2 for free is pretty awesome.

We spent most of the day at the Animal Kingdom, but that is for another Shot Tales.

Later that evening, after we had dinner back at the resort, a few of us decided  we wanted to go to Epcot for a little bit and use the "hopper" feature of the pass.  It was late and we only had about 2 hours before the park closed, we were aware of this.

I was determined to see as much as I could in that limited amount of time.  Well, that didn't happen.  Why? Because when we got there I had to wait while Brad, TS, and maybe a brother or 2 rode on one of the rides.  I don't do rides.  Me + rides = yack.  Not a big deal though.

What was the big deal? Because after this ride was over, TS just had to show us this "awesome" game.  And there we sat, the rest of the evening, in this room while TS played this stupid video game.

I didn't see a darn thing I wanted to except for the gift shop for about 10 seconds because I demanded that I wasn't leaving without a shot glass.

Hopefully one day we'll make it back and I'll see some stuff!
