Funny work emails...

Some background: when I first started at my job I worked in another department under C. We've since become good friends, despite my move to another department. We have similar personalities and are constantly cracking each other up.

HR sends out an email announcing a new employee, Jennifer.

C forwards me said email and says: Another Jennifer. How does that make you feel? I just met her... I'm ok with her.

Me: When she came in, I told her she'd have to go because there is already one Jennifer.

C: Good that she knows where she stands already.

Me: Exactly. She said I could call her something else but I stopped paying attention. I mean when I dismiss you, just get lost ok?

C: I'm so proud of you. Was just telling B, that I hired you, and that I'm responsible for you. I'm so proud.

Me: I aim to please master.

C: Master like Yoda? Or more like the Sith Lords?

Me: Sith Lords.

Books, books, and more books!

The precise reason I can never keep my head above water... three of these are for one class and one is missing because I already did that reading for the week! Crazy!!!!!!!

Note sign above books...

My back to blogging game plan...

I love being back. And I use "back" loosely because I'm only about 1/3 of the way there.

I've been pretty consistent with my posting and returning comments, I always reply to comments so please check back on a thread if you commented there, I promise I wrote a response, and if I didn't, let me know!! One thing I've noticed about this fine Blogger app is that it doesn't save my reply comments, so I have to go through the web version to do it, not a big deal, but I've noticed a couple things get lost here or there.

I'm going to continue to post through the next week. And if all goes well, I'm going to try to start commenting on some of the blogs I've been catching up on. I have been reading little by little. Trying to get back into the swing of things.

Once phase two is underway and I'm feeling confident, I'm going to try to get back to the hops that I love and miss. I'm easing them in last because there are so many of them I like so I want to be able to do them all, and I can't until I conquer these first two parts.

Sorry for the boring post, but I realized my blog post count was at 666 and I needed to come p with something quick to change that!

Quiet You Mothers

I'd like to give a quick shout out for a friend of mine who just started a parenting website where she shares and discusses various parenting topics and articles.

If you are a parent, or thinking about being one some day, or if you just want a good read and some good, honest conversation, head on over.

She's also got a Facebook page with the same name.

Also, join her email list if you'd like, she promises not to spam you to death. I'm on it, and she doesn't. :)

Bedroom Makeover

A while back I was having a hard time falling asleep at night. I talked to my doctor while I was in for a regular check up, and she had suggested making my bedroom a more relaxing place. For example, don't fold laundry in there, don't do schoolwork in there, only stress free relaxation. That way, when I go to bed, I will be in a relaxing place, not a place where I do chores and thinking.

So our bedroom is pretty relaxing. But I still sometimes fold clothes in there or do some schoolwork, I need to cut that out. Anyway, I want to incorporate some new, soft decor to make it more comfortable. The walls are a calm and peaceful blue and we have little to no art on the walls. We basically have a clean slate to work with.

I'm thinking along the lines of a happy cherry blossom print, courtesy of my very talented friend Anita Miller, of Natures Images by Design, and maybe a DIY fabric headboard, but I'd love to hear some other ideas too.

I'm hoping to pick up a new, more comfortable bed with our tax refund, if it's big enough. And with that I want a comfy new bed spread set with lots and lots of soft pillows. We have curtains that I'm not at all attached to, so that could change. I do want to stick with the blue color on the walls that I love, so whatever we do should be compatible with that. We have a ceiling fan so we're limited on what we can do with the ceiling, not that there is much to do there.

So I guess I'm looking for ideas with wall art and other accents. I'm thinking about some kind of fabric on top of the dressers, almost like a runner, to make the dust less apparent on the dark wood furniture, but nothing tacky. Oh and we have the bathroom and closet doors too, not sure there is any way to make them pretty without paint? I'll be heading to Pinterest for sure.

Think soft and comfy thoughts! I'd love to hear them!

I'm making cards again!

Since I've been working the past few weeks at getting myself organized, I've begun making cards again! While I was on my New Years break from work, I sat down and made birthday and anniversary cards for January and February. Below is an anniversary card I made, I love it!! Sorry it's a tad fuzzy!!

Also, my sister got me a gift card for Michael's and I can't wait to do some shopping!

Meal Planning

So a while back I got ambitious and decided to out the meals Brad and I would be having for the following several weeks. Yes, several weeks. This was in mid to late November and I ended up planning through January. Needless to say we swayed from the plan quite a bit, but last week we started back up.

What I love about meal planning is that it takes the thought process out of dinner on a day to day basis. Sure you've got to take that one day to sit and plan, but it is so worth it. Especially when you come home after a long day at work and just have to whip out a sheet of paper and voila! You know what you're having and you have what you need to make it, all you've got to do is cook.

So I pulled out a small binder and some colored card stock. Then I went through my loose recipes and started pulling a bunch. These are recipes I tore out of magazines and stuff so they were just loose in a folder, easy to yank out and stick in a binder. I put seven recipes in the binder, then card stock, then seven recipes, then card stock, etc... The day I'm heading to the grocery store, I go through the recipes, pull one or two if I know we'll be eating out, then make my shopping list.

It has been working wonderfully the past week and I just shopped for this week's items today. I need to come up with a system for when I run out of magazine recipes and need to get some from my cook books, can't exactly rip those out!

I feel like too many of my posts have been titled with a simple "hi" rather than something clever and interesting. I was sitting on the couch about an hour ago thinking about how I missed my blog and I missed interacting with all of you and what happened that made me stray so far for so long.

Dramatic, right? Aside from last semester really kicking my butt, I convinced myself it was the lack of ease. My lap top is so chunky and it dies if it is unplugged for more than the run from the office to the couch or bed. So I dislike taking it from the desk to a nice comfy place where I can cozy up with a blanket and type away. Solution? A trip to Best Buy and a brand new iPad Mini.

Blogger app? Check!
Couch? Check!
Blanket? Check!

This is what happens when I'm left home alone, bored on a Saturday night, I shop. Compulsively.

So things here are going well and I have a new semester starting Tuesday, three classes. Help! Brad started classes this past Monday and he's doing ok so far.

I hope to be making some regularly scheduled appearances around here, but we've all heard that before! I do hope to be a little more consistent around here though. Maybe let's shoot for once a week to start!

Have an excellent weekend, I hope it's a 3-day for most of you!!
